A Night Out with… Inhaler
Inhaler and Blossoms teamed up to provide an evening of thoroughly enjoyable entertainment as they dazzled the Zürich crowd with their catchy hooks, riffs and licks and irresistible confidence.
Zürich was treated to a delightful double bill last night as Inhaler visited town supported by Blossoms, another big name in the indie scene. A daring move from Dublin-based Inhaler: Blossoms have enough top-notch material to entertain a crowd for one and a half hours. They had to make do with a 45-minute set covering some of their greatest hits. Coming fresh off the heels of the release of Gary, their fifth studio album, Blossoms brought their signature swagger and riveting rhythms all the way to sunny Switzerland. “Your Girlfriend” off 2020’s Foolish Loving Spaces and “There’s a Reason Why” off 2018’s Cool Like You were particular highlights of the overqualified opening act’s performance that got the crowd more than ready for the night’s main attraction.

Both bands found success due to their ability to write catchy hooks, the strong vocal performances and the engaging songwriting. Yet, the vibe switch between the two bands could not have been more striking. As Inhaler took the stage, gone was Blossoms’ stage set-up including a keyboard, two different drum sets, and various decorative touches. Inhaler opted for a stripped back set-up carried by their youthful energy and the charisma of frontman Elijah Hewson (yes indeed, the son of U2 frontman Bono). While Blossoms excel thanks to their tight rhythm section and impressive chemistry, Inhaler’s music gives them space to express themselves. There was not a dull moment throughout the setlist as the crowd responded to the Dublin quartet’s – and particularly Hewson’s – stage presence. Touring their 2025 album Open Wide, highlights include personal favourite “A Question of You” from that same record as well as “Your House” – the gig’s ferocious finale.

All credit to the hardcore fans that showed up and made it a memorable night for the lads from Dublin. They made the room shake even though the gig did not sell out. And even more credit to Hewson – a fantastic performance from the frontman as he cast aside any ‘nepobaby’ allegations. I, for one, am looking forward to Inhaler’s return to Zürich. As for Blossoms, I am hoping to catch them as the headline act sooner rather than later.
